DVCA Entrance Signs

First Sign is UP!

Thanks to the work of Haven REI, the first Drew Valley Sign has been erected.

Feedback has been very positive. A few notes on the appearance:

1) The cap takes about 2.5 weeks to completely dry. It appears wet, because it is.

2) The granite and grout will age over time similar to other county retaining walls and curbs.

3) The Sign Committee is planning to plant some liriope and lay pine straw next weekend.

So....work begins on Sign #2 at Briarwood, which means we need donations. Please contact me directly 770.868.9799 or kiel7880@yahoo.com if you can give a contribution or if you are interested in volunteering.

Construction Starts on Sign #1, Fundraising Begins for Sign #2

As previously mentioned, thanks to all the donors, the Sign Committee has raised enough to start construction on the first sign.

Thanks to the continued effort of Rick Glisson and Kelsey Dick of Haven Real Estate Investments (http://www.havenrei.com/), we have finally received Dekalb county approval and construction has begun.

You will notice that the sign's location is on the opposite side of North Thompson than the existing wooden sign. It is also noticeably closer to Dresden. This was a unanimous vote by the sign committee to maximize visibility.

Construction is expected to be completed with the cooperation of Mother Nature by end of September. We have received some very positive feedback so far and appreciate your support on this continued initiative. Once complete, we will be sure to post pictures on this site.

Please continue to check back to this website for updates and pictures on the progress.

FUNDRAISING EFFORTS CONTINUE!!

As of the end of March, the Sign Committee has raised enough to start the first sign!
We are working with the county and homeowners to to determine the best spots for these landmarks. Rather than replacing the current sign at the existing location, we would like to place the first sign on opposite side of the road (east side of N Thompson) next to the MARTA stop. This would provide the best views for entering and exiting the neigborhood.
Additionally, the Briarwood entrance sign may be erected closer to the corner of Drew Valley and Briarwood. Again, we believe that this location will provide the best visability. Please continue to check back to this website for updates and pictures on the progress.

Plans for the Signs

Click the image to see a larger view.

The body is a stacked granite stone. The top/ cap is a heavy man-made cast that resembles sandstone.

The plan is to replace the existing wood signs with these granite signs at each of the 6 DVCA entrances.

Phase 1 will focus on the first two signs:

- Thompson Road entrance

- Briarwood entrance
